The inaugural Real Fine Stuff automotive show was held at Londonderry last Saturday, and it was an absolute cracker. The event was coordinated by the Londonderry Rural Fire Service, as part of it’s annual station open day with assistance from the Blue Mountains Hot Rod Club and the Macquarie Towns Hot Rod Club.
Anything cool with wheels was asked to attend, and the automotive community support was outstanding, there was a great selection display. From vintage Blitz army truck & RFS Jeep, through to a fine selection of hot rods, muscle cars, and even a jacked up 4WD with amazing graphics.
There was something for everyone, as well as all of the great cars, there were market and trade stalls, the Londonderry Rural Fire Service guys were on hand to answer any questions you had about the up coming fire season and there were a variety of fire demos by the guys as well, there was also rescue demonstration as a joint exercise with the Volunteer Rescue Association (VRA). Following all of this were the presentations, and for something a little bit different the trophies were pinstriped and air brushed RFS helmets – (just awesome!) The day was rounded out by great local Acoustic Rock band Dylandrew taking to the stage and playing some great songs, which the crowd loved.
Real Fine Stuff attracted over 120 cars and some ware between 1,500 & 2,000 spectators for a first time event, which is an even greater achievement when you consider that the morning started with a dust storm, and there was strong winds for most of the day. So all in all at the end of the day I was Sun burnt, wind & dust blown, & rocked out, but what an awesome day, when can I do it all again?
Next years is pencilled in for 25th September 2009 if you missed this one you missed a belter lets see if we can make 2010 bigger and better
